Valentine's Day is coming up soon and WHiRR is joining the festivities.

We're starting off the new year with new things to look at!

I've (finally) updated the Art section on the WHiRR website. It's slideshow-tastic!

In sadder news, the Robot of Leisure comic is officially on hiatus until further notice. Current scheduling factors are not conducive to comic strip goodness. However, if there's a loud enough clamor for the comic, I'll look into coming out of temporary retirement. New WHiRR products are due for a Spring release, so we're not disappearing altogether.

Robot of Leisure: before the retirement #1

Found this sketch while sorting through old WHiRR files. It's Boris v1.1. His appendages have been simplified and he can no longer be found behind the counter of any fast food establishment. What is he reacting to? Only the artist knows (or did know and has long forgotten, as is frequently the case with this artist).

Also of note, there seems to be a trend towards WHiRR-inspired tattoos (I've seen two already). If you have any Boris tattoos or any other unofficial Boris-ish items, send me an email with a photo. Maybe I'll post the photo on my MySpace or the WHiRR website. And if you happen to be sporting any WHiRR materials, official or home-brewed, please credit the proper source (Katharine and WHiRR). We're still small and indie and need the free advertising.

WHiRR in Toronto! And San Francisco!

WHiRR laboratories is now located in Toronto, Ontario. To celebrate, we'll be participating in the Last Minute Craft Fair at Trinity-St. Paul's Centre on December 16. If you're in the area, admission is free and we're looking to meet new crafty and/or robot-appreciating friends.

If you're in the San Francisco area, take the afternoon on December 9 to shop indie at Pandora's Trunk, where WHiRR merchandise will be on display and for sale. San Franciscans should also be on the lookout for WHiRR in MILA.

Holiday WHiRR orders must be made no later than December 9 for Christmas delivery.

Comics will resume as soon as we hook up the scanner. Boris and I appreciate your patience and look forward to filling your friendly robot art needs.

If youre in the Orlando area in early September, pop into Austins Coffee to look at some of my robot-themed artwork. Were more than just greeting cards and magnets.

The WHiRR: Robots of Leisure art series will be on display at Austins Coffee in Orlando from September 1 through September 15. The display will include all the pieces from our booth at the Orlando Fringe Festival as well as some brand new pieces.

Join us on September 2 for a ‘meet the artist’ reception. Katharine will be there with robots, refreshments and selected WHiRR merchandise for sale.
