How do I submit my video(s)?
Between 24 July and 31 July, just click the “Submit” tab on Life In A Day channel and upload the footage directly from your computer. The “Submit” tab will become visible on 24 July.

Does my video have to be documentary? Can it be fiction?
All we’re asking is for you to document your world over the course of a single day; we expect most videos to comprise documentary footage, but if you think that your world is best captured through fictional storytelling or even animation, it is entirely up to you.

Do I need permission to record other people in my video?
Yes, you do need permission to include other people in your video. If your video makes it through the first stage of our selection process, we will email you release forms which you must send back to us signed by anyone who appears in your video.

Can I use music?
Please avoid the use of music within your submission.

What do I need to know about recording sound?
It’s important to think about the audio on your video, as sound recording often affects the overall quality of a video. Good sound recording will probably increase the chance of your footage being chosen to be in the final film. If possible, it would be great to enhance your recording by using external microphones, in addition to those built in to most cameras.

When is the Sundance Film Festival?
The 2011 Sundance Film Festival will take place from 20 January to 30 January 2011. The premiere date of Life In A Day will be announced closer to the start of the festival.

About the Creative Mind Experiment:

See how differently creative minds interpret the same inspiration.

All of the creators agreed to participate without knowing what their source of inspiration would be. They were given a 3 min and 33 sec piece of music and asked to create “something” in that time frame. They can use any medium they wish and as little or as much of the music as they desire. The only rule is that they must create something that was inspired by something they heard or felt in the piece of music.

Memorial Day weekend is upon us. For every other holiday, there are a variety of ways to celebrate. Sometimes I don’t know my Thanksgiving plans until two weeks before. As a student, I had a part-time job in which I always worked Easter. Sometimes, I’ve even celebrated the Fourth of July without fireworks.

But I’ll be damned if I celebrate Memorial Day in any other way except Fringe. The Orlando Fringe Festival, to be specific – the first in North America and one weekend in which I get to come back to my beloved hometown and celebrate in the kookiest way imaginable.

Blue then calls the full cast together for a pre-show energy circle, some motivational words, and a prayer of sorts (to the theatre gods?). I like being a part of this. Performing as Pepe is one of my favorite things in the world to do, but oddly enough before a show, it can be a little lonely, so it’s nice to connect with a big cast … and there’s a lot of love in this circle. Good feeling.

Also today in the blogosphere, Katie Ball continues her marching rampage through the 2010 Fringe, with a post entitled, "MORE, MORE, MORE!".

”T-O-T-A-L-L-Y” is an inspiring story of a woman taking back her personal power. No bra burning or picket signs in sight, instead the irrepressible Kimleigh Smith uses sassy dialog, a sultry R&B voice and some sexy-ass dance moves to show her transformation from a teenage valley girl into a hot HOT woman of substance. Anyone, male or female, will be encouraged by T-O-T-A-L-L-Y 's story of facing crippling adversity, owning it, and then kicking it to the curb.

“Goblin Party Interactive” - Oh my God this was so much cooler than I could even imagine. It's the movie Labyrinth done Rocky Horror style, but joined by a range of clever puppets, dreamy kite work and puppeteers Heather Henson and Marsian's hysterical portrayals of the lead characters Sarah and the Goblin King. My suggestion: round up a crowd of friends, take the kites and ears you made at the Ibex tent, medicate however you see fit and then jump into the fray. TOO MUCH FUN.

“Some Other Day” is a beautifully simple story told by two artists who are proud to share the tradition of old Vaudevillian showmanship. Whether altering the space/time continuum, dabbling in the supernatural or bringing applause with just a smile, Schave and Reilly keep doing what they do best – being freaking adorable. “Some Other Day” is 50 minutes of genuine sweetness; it may not be for everyone, but the world would be better if it was.

"Canuck Cabaret"
I love Canadians, and what better way to celebrate than by witnessing the Canuck Cabaret? Hosted by Fringe sweetheart Paul Hutcheson and the saucy Sharon Nowlan, this variety show features new guests with each performance. I was lucky to get to see Schave and Reilly do an amazing juggling routine - so clever that my friends and I are still trying to figure out how they did it. And Paul and Sharon delivered a number of performances that ranged in tone from beautifully and serenely cosmic to the universally well-regarded theme of poo. I loved the show and actually wish I could go every day.

The Ibex tent at Fringe is my new favorite place. Last night I spent well over an hour creating what director Mike Marinaccio dubbed “Bad Bunny Ears”. Good/Bad, not Evil ; ) Made with pipe cleaners, fabric, hot glue, feathers (and with a good bit of guidance from puppeteers Heather Henson and Marsian), I felt my already low blood pressure drop further still.

If you aren't into making ears you can make a kite! It's free, folks, great great fun and free. Go make something awesome and then take it to Ibex's interactive Goblin Party. I want to get a big posse together for that, who's game?

Last night's opening was a quiet one but still so great. Missed the ribbon cutting because it was still so damned hot, so my buddy Emily and I had the contingency plan of drinking at Peacock first : ) Though we were both very well behaved because we knew we had a long night ahead of us and wanted to be in shape for it. The bartender had never heard of Fringe, and while I never like to be one of those clutch the pearls “You've never heard of...?” people, this one continues to surprise me. But it also kind of excites me because there are so many more people the regulars can help bring into the fold. The bartender and dred boy next to me sounded pretty well sold when I talked to them about Schave and Reilly's show, with the dred guy saying 'It's not every day someone talks about Buster Keaton at a bar.'

Odds were he wasn't going to top it and there was the real possibility that we had seen the best he had to give. So I entered the Silver venue with mixed feelings - hopes for the guy, but worried.

Mark Baratelli and the gang from the Daily City will be producing the Audience Choice Awards at the 2010 Orlando Fringe Festival. The awards are independently organized, and all of the awards were created by local artists. This year's show is curated by Fringe veteran Jeremy Seghers, who also curates art for Dandelion CommuniTEA Cafe.

It’s not just humans getting into the mix, either. Puppets and Monsters are sure to appear during the hour organized by Brian’s wife, a member of a local performance group called Thunderhag & the Thunderland Orchestra.

If you’re not able to make it downtown, or you’re house-bound, Brian will be Tweeting and Live-streaming pretty much every major (or minor) event during the week.

There are lots of watercolor drawings and slideshows with maps available on the City of Orlando’s website. They have a page with a few downloadable documents created that outline the gentrification of Parramore, creating lots of “party curb” streets (so drunk people don’t trip?), and making greater use of parks and public spaces. They also want to make sure the venues and other city buildings are “good neighbors”, whatever that means.

If you want to hear this BS in person, they’re having an event on Monday at City Hall. It seems to be open invite, so if you care about the future of downtown, make some time in your schedule for this.

Drupal has a very active community that will gather at DrupalCamp Florida on February 20 and 21st, where new and seasoned users learn about and share their knowledge of Drupal. The event is an opportunity to get an overview of Drupal and the developer and user community in Florida. Guest speaker Addison Berry of Lullabot will discuss how everyone can participate in the growing international community. Saturday will be a day-long educational conference with beginner, intermediate and advanced tracks. Addison Berry of Lullabot will Sunday will be a Site Development Sprint to build a Drupal web site for a non-profit organization.

Ah, how wrong I was. Not only did I get the inkling that a porn-infested factory was probably not where The Man in the Yellow Hat spent his waking hours, I later learned that he is entirely fictional. Bum-mer. I could use a friend like The Man today.

Although I would probably hate him and fantasize about punching him in the face, for I work with … dun-dun-DUNNNN … academics.

I very recently was dealing with a situation where a member of staff provided information which indicated that he would be teaching during the next school year. His colleagues insisted that he was not teaching. “He told ME this was his last year!” they cried, “I’m confused! [EDITOR’S NOTE: As usual!]” So, I sent an e-mail to this member of staff. No answer. I then sent an e-mail to this member of staff’s line manager. “Could you please confirm whether this member of staff is teaching next year?” I asked. “I can’t seem to get ahold of him.”

Their reply was something to this effect: I’ll see if I can get hold of him. There is no such word as “ahold.”

As former president of the Grammar Club, this is the equivalent of a “Yo Momma” joke. First of all, SIR, “ahold” is dialectical and is so commonplace that it is considered acceptable in everyday lexicon. Secondly, what the FLIP does this have to do with the question I asked? And finally, SCREW YOU! AND YOUR MOM!

In a daring look at a religious woman facing the crossroads of her life, The Habit guides its audience from the familiar images of docile convent life to a path sprinkled with hints of a more profane one. Meeting a charming young man—more of the scoundrel type—at the hospital where she works as a nurse, she keeps hearing him telling his enchanting and magical stories. Suddenly, in a do-or-die move, she accepts his offer of eloping with him. However, as the play moves on, the audience is not really quite sure if HE is a figment of her imagination, or if SHE is a figment of his. Through music, dance, mime—following Loria’s idea of what theater should be—The Habit portrays, most importantly, a human being’s moment of truth, as everyone in the audience may have experienced at least once in their own lives.
