Wilson Loria’s Latest: The Habit

'The Habit' opens on September 26 and 27, 2009 at the
Catherine Hickman Theatre in Gulfport, St. Petersburg at 3 PM. See address below please.
Habit wings 72.jpg
As usual, I'd love to see you in the audience. Tickets are available by calling at 727-656-8053. I will gladly send you tickets (in advance, seniors and students at $13 each) by mail. The price is $15 at the door. Let me know if you want them by mail ASAP. Drop me a line or call.

In a daring look at a religious woman facing the crossroads of her life, The Habit guides its audience from the familiar images of docile convent life to a path sprinkled with hints of a more profane one. Meeting a charming young man—more of the scoundrel type—at the hospital where she works as a nurse, she keeps hearing him telling his enchanting and magical stories. Suddenly, in a do-or-die move, she accepts his offer of eloping with him. However, as the play moves on, the audience is not really quite sure if HE is a figment of her imagination, or if SHE is a figment of his. Through music, dance, mime—following Loria’s idea of what theater should be—The Habit portrays, most importantly, a human being’s moment of truth, as everyone in the audience may have experienced at least once in their own lives.

Dolphins: Sea Mammals That Can Run — Colts: Land Mammals That Can Fly

Imagine this: You are an NFL QB. As the leader of your team’s offense, you are asked to score more than 20 points a game, week in and week out, in order for your team to have a good chance to win the game. That may sound tough enough, but then someone says, “WAIT! -- you can only have the ball for 14:53 throughout the game . . . oh and JUST to make it interesting, you are without Anthony Gonzalez, your second-best WR”.

Revolutionary Muskets vs. Circled Wagons; Brady NOT the Hero In This Battle

I’ve seen the headlines of the ridiculous already referring to ‘Brady Magic’ (see NFL.com’s homepage within in 1 hour following the game in question), but to those of us who actually watched the game without falling for the flash emanating from New England Patriots QB Tom Brady’s Super Bowl Rings, his ‘Golden Boy’ persona, or the lights of the cameras tracking every moment of his return from injury, we would know that he wasn’t the true game changer in the 25-24 teeth-skinning victory past the Buffalo Bills.

A Titanic Season Opener featuring Steeler ‘Defense’

For those who lived through the teaser of pre-game performances and hype leading up to the opening match-up of the 2009 NFL Regular Season between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Titans, this seemed to be a good example of an opener that earned the commotion it got as the Tailors of the Terrible Towel tip-toed past the terrifying Titans, 13-10 in OT on a FG by K Jeff Reed.

AFC East Preview 2009

Length:
9:49

Who knew that surprise, disappointment, and mediocrity could live all in one place at the same time? With '1win' teams becoming '11 win' teams ('Phins) keeping other 11 win teams out of the playoffs (Patriots - who are usually a stable for post season play) whilst the other 2 teams quibble with consistency issues (Bills and Jets), there's no WAY it can happen like that again . . . can it? The SoTG and Weasel will let you know.

AFC South Preview 2009

Length:
13:30

A few years removed from deep playoff appearances previously, the Titans were only a 2 games away from the Super Bowl last in 2008. But as always the Colts threaten their defense of the division title. Will either of these teams prevail, or is their a dark horse looming in the form of Houston and Jacksonville? The SoTG and Weasel give you the goods.
